This massive collection is supported by a music database of his own creation, displays both the music and the lyrics in large-sized letters on a large monitor, inspiring participation and interaction for anyone who draws near. These things differentiate JD Sebastian as a musician-techie driven to please the many groups, clients and events he plays for in Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
Sebastian’s three-decade music career has included musical director for churches, musicals, and jazz (piano-bass-drums) trios and quartets (adding saxophone players or singers). Most recently, he directed a musical play which included accompanying a dozen vocal soloists and duets at Loyola Marymount University in West Los Angeles. Prior to that, music director of MCCLA, an inclusive spiritual community located in West Hollywood, at the time. He has held long-standing gigs in restaurants, country clubs, and senior living communities.
As one with a natural gift and passion for music and for each and every song, Sebastian has enjoyed thrilling singers with the accompaniment support of their dreams, with just the feeling and support they need to really let go and shine!
With a classical concert pianist for a mother and a singing-guitarist song leader for a dad, JD began playing at the age of 4 and was playing professionally as a jazz pianist in Springfield, Ohio, by the age of 14. At a state-wide Jazz Band Festival, JD was awarded “overall best soloist” and was awarded the Oscar Peterson Scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, of which he is an alumnus.
Today, JD Sebastian’s passion and professional drive is the creative and adventurous life of being a musician on call in Los Angeles, volunteer pianist at Kaiser Permanente Hospital on Sunset Boulevard, and a joy bringer to senior citizen communities, wooing them with piano performances and leading them in the most-loved songs of our world’s past century of music.
